My Approach

I trained in an integrative model of counselling, which means I use a number of different therapeutic approaches to respond to the needs of individual clients. I know how difficult it can be sometimes to put spoken words to thoughts, feelings and emotions so I offer creative ways to help self expression such as use of art media, sand play and creative writing.

The relationship between client and counsellor is one of the most important factors of effective therapy so I’m always happy to offer a free 30 minute session either face to face or over the phone so we can discuss how counselling might help you and answer any questions you might have about my service and approach.

My Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

  • Certificate in Counselling Teenagers (Institute for Arts in Therapy & Education)

  • Certified Cyber Therapist Credential with a specialism in Children & Young People (Online Therapy Institute)

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

I continue my personal and professional development with on-going courses and extensive reading - please see my blog page for my thoughts and reflections on these.

I have a BA Hons degree in English Literature and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from The University of Wales, Aberystwyth and worked as a primary school teacher for many years before qualifying as a counsellor. I’ve gained additional training in working therapeutically with Children & Young People and currently work 3 days offering counselling in a local secondary school.

Other previous counselling work includes:

Adult counselling with Felixstowe Listening Service and offering counselling on behalf of a local charity to people who have suffered trauma or loss in pregnancy and birth.
